Throwback of the Week: White Noise by PVRIS

By Max Calabrese

PVRIS “White Noise,” released on November 4th, 2014, is a well-clever, lyric-heavy album with a mixture of synths and alternative rock. Overall, what I can make out of the message from the tracks would be getting out of a strongly bad relationship, according to what I can predict, but it can be incorrect.

I like that the synths display as a baseline for the vocals, giving a boost to spread a message clearly. The rhythm and wordplay play a big role especially with “Smoke”, “My House”, “White Noise” and “Fire.”

I also found out that there is a deluxe edition released on April 22nd, 2016, including two new tracks, “You and I” and “Empty, “ in the lineup and a variant of “You and I.” Personally, I was not too keen with them, but that’s just me. I enjoy the ideas of “You and I” and its variant of exploring the synths.

9/10 Listen to: “My House,” “White Noise,” and “Fire”
